Regina Pats' Colton Jobke to join Team WHL
Regina Pats' Colton Jobke to join Team WHL
November 14, 2011

CALGARY, AB – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Western Hockey League and the Moose Jaw Warriors and Regina Pats Hockey Clubs today announced a roster change to Team WHL who will compete against Team Russia in the 2011 SUBWAY® Super Series.  Team WHL will face Team Russia in games five and six of the series played Wednesday, November 16 in Regina, SK, and on Thursday, November 17 in Moose Jaw, SK.  The first two games of the series are hosted by the QMJHL with the OHL hosting games three and four.

Regina Pats defenceman Colton Jobke has been named to play for Team WHL, replacing Edmonton Oil Kings rear guard Mark Pysyk for the Wednesday, November 16th SUBWAY Super Series game against the Russians at the Brandt Centre in Regina.  Pysyk sustained an injury this past week forcing him out of the Team WHL line up.

Colton Jobke has had a fantastic start to the season since joining the Regina Pats at the beginning of the year in a trade with the Kelowna Rockets. He has four (4) goals and four (4) assists in 20 games with all four of his goals coming on the power play. Colton signed a free agent contract with the NHL’s Minnesota Wild in September of 2010 and attended their training camp this year.

Regina Pats General Manager Chad Lang, “We are very happy and proud that Colton will be given the opportunity to play in the Subway Super Series. He has been a huge part of our hockey club since we acquired him back on September 22nd. Not only has he played well on the ice, his leadership off the ice has been a welcomed addition.  It is nice to see Colton being rewarded for his play and to represent the Western Hockey League at the Subway Series.”

The 2011 SUBWAY® Super Series will take place November 7 – 17 and marks the ninth straight year that teams of CHL All-Stars have competed against Team Russia in preparation for the World Junior Hockey Championships.  The SUBWAY® Super Series is an integral part of the evaluation process prior to Team Canada’s final selection camp in December.  This season, Canada will be competing for their 14th straight medal at the 2012 tournament in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.

The Team WHL roster still consists of 34 players – two goalies, 11 defenceman and 21 forwards.  Top NHL prospects for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft Matt Dumba (RD), Griffin Reinhart (EDM) and Colton Sissons (KEL) will compete in the series.  Team WHL also features three first round draft picks from the 2011 NHL Draft, Duncan Siemens (SAS), Mark McNeill (PA) and Joe Morrow (POR).  Moose Jaw Warriors forward Quinton Howden is the sole returning player from Team Canada’s 2011 silver medal team at the World Junior Championships and was selected in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Game tickets for Wednesday, November 16 in Regina are available at the Brandt Centre Box Office, located in the East entrance, or Ticketmaster by calling 543.7800 Toll-free: 1.800.970.7328 or Log onto www.ticketmaster.ca.  Game tickets for Thursday, November 17 in Moose Jaw are available at the Mosaic Place Box Office - (306) 624-2050 or http://tickets.mjwarriors.ca/

The 2011 SUBWAY® Super Series is supported by CHL associate sponsors, Bank of Montreal and CCM.

All games will be broadcast nationally on Sportsnet with the two QMJHL games shown on TVA.
